The UEFA Champions League in the United States is a CBS property, and has been since the 2020-21 cycle when CBS outbid Turner for the rights. The current deal extends through the 2030-31 season under the expanded league-phase format, meaning the broadcaster identity here is locked in for the rest of the decade.

The 2025-26 deal

Paramount+ Essential at $7.99 per month carries the full Champions League slate, including every match in the new league phase, the knockout rounds, and the final. The Showtime tier at $12.99 adds ad-free playback during on-demand viewing but does not change the live coverage. The subscription also includes Europa League, Conference League and Serie A.

CBS Sports Golazo is the free, ad-supported streaming channel that carries one Champions League match per matchweek, plus selected Europa League and Conference League fixtures. The channel is available on Paramount+ as part of the free tier, and is also distributed across the major free ad-supported television platforms — Pluto TV, the Roku Channel and Samsung TV Plus all carry it.

CBS linear network carries the Champions League final each year. The final is the only Champions League match that airs on the free over-the-air CBS network; every other match runs through Paramount+ or Golazo.

What $7.99 actually gets you

The Paramount+ Essential subscription delivers every Champions League match live, the on-demand replay for the full season, the full UEFA package including Europa League and Conference League, all of Serie A, and the NWSL women’s domestic football slate. For a North American football fan, this is the highest-value single sports subscription on the market — three top-tier European competitions, an Italian league, and a major women’s league for the price of a single Premier League monthly window.

The new league-phase format

The 2024-25 cycle introduced the league-phase format that replaces the old group stage. Each of the 36 participating clubs plays eight matches against eight different opponents — four at home, four away — and the league standings determine direct knockout qualification and play-off positioning. The format adds roughly 100 matches to the European football calendar compared with the old group stage, and the broadcast workload has expanded accordingly. Paramount+ carries every match of the league phase; the linear CBS Sports cable channel picks up the marquee Tuesday-Wednesday matches as a simulcast.

The practical viewing plan

For a Champions League follower, $7.99 monthly from September through May covers every match: roughly $72 per season. The CBS Sports Golazo free channel is sufficient for casual viewing — one match per week, the marquee fixtures of each round, free with no subscription.

For a multi-competition fan, the Paramount+ subscription is the better value because it also carries Europa League, Conference League and Serie A, which would otherwise require multiple separate subscriptions to track.

Frequently asked questions

Which broadcaster shows the most live sports in 2025/26?
No single broadcaster carries everything. ESPN+ and Peacock anchor most U.S. football and league coverage; Paramount+ holds UEFA Champions League and Serie A; Apple TV has the exclusive MLS Season Pass deal; Amazon Prime Video carries Thursday Night Football. Each sport’s landing page on this site names the official rights-holder for the current season.
Can major sports be watched legally for free?
Free-to-air coverage in the U.S. is limited to over-the-air NFL games on the major networks (CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC) and select championship events. Almost everything else — Premier League, Champions League, NBA League Pass, MLB — requires a paid subscription. Peacock and Paramount+ offer the lowest entry tiers; YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV bundle the regional sports networks.
What is the cheapest way to watch the Premier League in the United States?
The U.S. Premier League rights belong to NBC through 2028. The cheapest legal access is Peacock Premium at $7.99/month, which carries most Saturday/Sunday matches not on NBC or USA Network. There is no free legal stream. The Peacock app is also where any Premier League game not selected by the linear NBC broadcast lives.
Does LiveTV Guide host any streams?
No. LiveTV Guide is strictly editorial — we publish kickoff times, official broadcaster names and subscription details. We never host, embed, link to or describe how to access unauthorised streams. For copyright concerns write to [email protected].
